Hold that thought

You may be excited to check out your credit report and find out exactly what your score is, but you need to take a step back for a moment to take advantage of some programs. What you need to realize is that you do not need to pay for your first credit report each year.
The federal government has decided that viewing your credit report is important enough that you should get a free credit report each year. That is not all though, they say that you should get a free credit report from each of the three main credit bureaus.
There are three bureaus, so you will probably get a good price anyway since they are in heavy competition. However, why should you pay for something that you can get for free?

If you are smart with the way that you view your reports, you will get a look at it every four months (3 times per year = every four months). Another smart thing that you can do is print off and file your reports so that you can reference them from time to time. Having your report in your files means that you may not need to reference your report as often. If you have to look at your report time and time again, then the cost of it can really begin to add up.
You may be excited to take a look at that report, but hold on just a moment and get it for free.
