It is easy to be overwhelmed when you step into a cell phone store and see all that is available to you. There are racks of accessories and many phones to choose from. We are all looking for ways to save ourself some money and the cell phone plan is no exception. You don’t want to get talked into a plan that you don’t want so make sure you understand all the details before you sign anything.

The golden rule here is not to take the first mobile phone deals you are offered. Shop around and gather information as you go. This way you can always return to a prior carrier and tweak a plan in a way to fit your needs. Maybe you want to save money by buying you phone from a third party and having it unlocked. You can get an agreement in writing that your service provider will not lock your phone. This way you can use you phone with another carrier down the road. Often, unlocking renders the phone unusable.

Talking with customer service agents can sometimes get you a deal as they might be able to make a small change in your contract as a way to get your business.  Finding the best deal takes some work on your part, but it is worth it in the end.
